The question begs to be asked. Why am I discussing business under the Ladies Loving God Blog? Because my whole passion revolves around the central concept that you must be rooted, grounded, fixed and founded in who you are as a Child of God before you can emerge or manifest any God-given talent in way that will bless you and impact the world. You must have a strong foundation spiritually, mentally and emotionally for any business, ministry, or non-profit idea to take off and sustain itself. Personal, emotional, and spiritual growth and development cannot be separated from growing a business or ministry.
Thus I have created the first in a serious of articles that identify the key foundations that must be laid in order for any purpose or calling from God to manifest to full potential. I do not claim to be an expert. As a matter of fact, I am still building my own foundation. This is what I have learned and gleaned over the past few years. Reaching out to others is the best way for me to learn for myself. So here goes:
Foundation Principle # 1 – Do Your God Work. Get healed. There are no short-cuts to emotional or spiritual healing. Check out: http://bit.ly/17VLizs – Unpacking & Unpeeling the Process of Healing Emotional Wounds. Take the time to do the inner work in order to lead and run your business or ministry with integrity and authenticity. This is not easy to do. The reason why we do not do it is because it is painful and messy. It takes courage to allow yourself to feel the pain, process it, ask for and receive forgiveness, move through it and heal. We try to bypass this in-working and rush quickly to a big outward manifestation. This always comes back to trip us up later when we least expect it. Unresolved issues always manage to show up in other areas. It is also known as self-sabotage and denial. Often, it is not as hidden as you think. Oprah Winfrey said “The thing that you try hardest to hide is the thing that you broadcast the most.”
Foundation Principle #2- Believe in You. How much negative self-talk runs though your mind on a daily basis? Negative talk includes calling yourself Stupid or Dumb, beating yourself up over mistakes and being overly critical of yourself. We speak to ourselves on the inside in ways that we would NEVER speak to or talk down to anyone else. You don’t believe in someone you put down. You cannot honor God and then turn around and dishonor yourself. Read When You Honor Yourself You Honor God at http://bit.ly/17VLizs. You really do not believe in yourself if you secretly don’t like yourself. Self-talk is very powerful. Clean up the negative self-talk and replace with the Truth of who you are in God. Once you believe in yourself, you now have to OWN the value that you bring to the table which leads us to the next principle…
Foundation Principle #3 – Get Clear on You. Do the work to get clear on what you are here for. Get clear on and own who you are called to serve and bless with your talents, gifts and treasures. According to Kim Castle, Co-Creator of www.BrandU.com, “Business is the highest form of creation”. It is the act of taking an idea, bringing it into existence as a tangible form, product or service that is of benefit to others while bringing prosperity to you. In the process of getting clear, there can be no copycatting everyone else. There is no need to re-invent the wheel either. You simply use other successful people’s strategies, templates, tools, processes and procedures as a starting point to get you going, but at the end of the day, only you can be you. Like Lucinda Cross, (www.lucindacross.com) author, speaker and coach said “Remove yourself from the sea of sameness”. Get very focused on developing your core message. Inspirational entrepreneurs create. They do not compete.
Foundation Principle #4 Invest in You. Be willing to invest in yourself. You get what you put in. Don’t expect people to spend money on you if you won’t spend money on you. If you fail to perceive the value of reading books, purchasing training CDs, packages or programs, obtaining coaching, taking the time to take advantage of free tele-seminars and classes, then how do you expect your potential clients to see value in you? This means doing whatever you can within your financial means to spend the money necessary to build up your foundation and capacity. As your cash flow improves, you should up-level the amount of money and/or time you spend on you for personal development.
Authentic, prosperous and strong business and ministry leaders will always build the foundations of their calling from the inside out, not outside in. Building a strong internal foundation will enable you to handle the storms and pressures that are sure to come. Then when unexpected happens, you have the capacity to handle it without falling apart. You can respond and not react to situations.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7: 24-27 (NIV)
